At the end of February a delegation of 14 members of the committee of Villenave d’Ornon Town Twinning arrived in Bridgend and stayed with hosts for the weekend. During this time a very successful meeting was held at Carnegie House when both Twinning committees discussed the 3 year Charter, set up last year, to “implement a networking of towns”. The objective is “to bring populations together and foster a true European awareness through our connections”. Aims of the Charter include exchanges of citizens, promoting educational, sporting and cultural links of under 25s and to encourage economic relationships between businesses within our towns.

During the weekend members of both committees were also fortunate enough to attend the Wales v France rugby international at the Principality Stadium. Of course the Welsh supporters were happiest with a win. The visit ended with a social evening and meal, rounded off with the customary musical entertainment!!! How lovely to spend happy times again with our European friends.
