Bridgend has Town Twinning links with Langenau in Southern Germany (1971) and Villenave d’Ornon in Aquitaine (1994) and a Friendship Link with Hechtel Eksel in Belgium (2011).
Visitors are hosted in people’s homes and enjoy the full experience of being a member of the community. Visits sometimes coincide with big sporting events and visitors are taken out and about to get to know the local area. Over the years many firm and lasting friendships have developed.
The Bridgend Town Twinning Association is governed by a Constitution drawn up by the Association. Although an autonomous body the Association receives some support from the Bridgend Town Council, on application with details of proposed expenditure. The Bridgend Town Twinning Association meets once a month at the offices of the Bridgend Town Council, Carnegie House, Wyndham Street, Bridgend and holds social events during the year at various venues.
The Assocation has active members who attend the meetings and also friends of the Association who support its events.
